Yes, I unintentionally went natural! It was unplanned, but a blessing. If I hadn't gone through a certain ordeal, I would have been too chicken to do the
The reason I went natural is simple. When I was 19 I noticed I had a small round bald spot on my head. I was told it was Alopecia Areata caused by iron deficiency (so ladies and gents, eat those leafy green vegetables). I did the big chop simply so that my hair would grow back evenly. I had decided to no longer use relaxers on my hair. I had no idea that there was a
natural hair revolution going on in the world around me.
Like many, after the big chop, I didn't have a clue of what to do next. I was
starting to get more bald spots and I began to wear wigs. (So, I disagree with the whole, if you wear wigs you are not natural thing). I always hated
doing my hair, until I was losing it. Today, I have no bald spots and my hair is healthy and continues to grow!
As far as products, I prefer using natural oils (olive oil, coconut oil, watermelon seed oil, etc) and I continue
to experiment with other products as well. I'm a borderline product junkie!
Oh and yes I still wear wigs occasionally. I love my natural hair and I
don't plan to turn back to that creamy crack (relaxers)! No offense to those
ladies who have to have it.
