Today is the day that the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was born. It also happens to be my father's birthday. The Most High, God, also performed a miracle today. This is a praise report that I must share. A few days ago my best friend texted me and said she needed to talk, but she was walking into a doctor's appointment. I told her to let me know how it went and call me afterwards. Sometime later, I hadn't heard back and decided to reach out to her. She texted me back and said her blood pressure was high and that she had to be admitted into the hospital. I was very concerned because she was also pregnant. I prayed for her and sent in some prayer requests. She said they had induced her labor and she was under some stress, but her pressure was going down. I had planned to call her that night after I got my own 2 children to bed. However, I have a tooth infection and the pain is literally worse than when I gave birth. So, I'm on an antibiotic and a pain medication that makes me sleepy. So, I quickly sent a text to check on her and got in bed. Just before I dozed off she texted back and said that the doctor's had called a code blue on her earlier and she almost lost her life. I began to pray and then fell asleep. At 1:58 a.m. she texted me, but I didn't hear the phone. However, my son woke up crying and as I soothed him back to sleep, I checked my phone. It was now 2:02 a.m. and it was mean't for me to see. She said they were about to do an emergency C-section on her and she wanted me to pray. I prayed and even texted her a prayer. I was scared for her because one of my cousins died after giving birth to her 1st child, another cousin died giving birth to her 3rd child, and I knew another young woman who had also died giving birth. Though, I had not lost hope. I thought of my friend who's blood pressure had skyrocketed and came out just fine. I told God that I did not want to lose my best friend and I wanted her to experience motherhood. I had faith that by His stripes, she was already healed. I went back to bed and when I awoke the next morning, I hadn't heard from her. I knew she could be busy or tired, but given the circumstances, I was worried. I prayed and sent her a text. I asked Siri on my iPhone to play some gospel music by Donald Lawrence, hoping she'd play the music by him I had already downloaded. Instead, she chose to play some of his popular songs that weren't in my playlist. The very first song she played, I had never heard before. After the song had played for some time, Donald Lawrence pauses and says, "Everything that you'll ever need, has already been taken to Calvary." I was so moved by what he said that I even shed a few tears. I was reminded of just how good my God is. Almost as soon as he said it, I received a text from my best friend. There weren't any words, but there was a picture. A picture can say a thousand words. The picture was of a beautiful baby girl. I shed more tears, tears of joy and thankfulness. I knew my friend was safe, I knew her baby was healthy, and that God had heard my cry.
I'm reminded of the story in the bible of the woman with the issue of blood. She was sick for 12 gruesome years. She went to every doctor and had done all that she could, in search for a healing. When she heard that Christ was coming to town, she had faith that He could heal her. There was a crowd around Him, but the woman pressed her way through. She figured if she could just touch the hem of his garment, she'd be healed. The bible says that when she touched the hem of His garment, instantly she was made whole. (Luke 8:43-48).
Go forth today being grateful for life and knowing that God is a healer!

Matthew 26:6-13 KJV
"Now when YashaYah (Jesus) was in Bethany, in the house of Simon the leper, There came unto Him a woman having an alabaster box of very precious ointment, and poured it on His head, as He sat at meat. But when His disciples saw it, they had indignation, saying, To what purpose is this waste? For this ointment might have been sold for much, and given to the poor. When YashaYah (Jesus) understood it, He said unto them, Why trouble ye the woman? for she hath wrought a good work upon Me. For ye have the poor always with you; but Me ye have not always. For in that she hath poured this ointment on My body, she did it for My burial. Verily I say unto you, Wheresoever this gospel shall be preached in the whole world, there shall also this, that this woman hath done, be told for a memorial of her."
According to the KJV Dake annotated reference bible, an alabaster box is "made of soft white marble of various shapes and sizes, called alabastra. It is made in and named for Alabastron in Egypt. This is where soft marble is found. Alabaster is a mineral stone of lime used to ornament buildings and make vases and small bottles.
The ointment that was inside the box cost three hundred pence. 300 pence = $51 = 300 days of labor. A pence = 17 cents a day. The ointment of spikenard was very precious. Spikenard comes from 2 Greek words; Nardos (a variety of bearded grass from India in which the fragrant oil is extracted). The second Greek word; pistikos (pure, faithful, genuine).
So, one can see why the disciples were in such an uproar about her pouring out such an expensive ointment.
The woman with the alabaster box was named Mary. She was not Mary Magdalene as many think. This Mary was from Nain and known as a sinner there. However, it does not particularly say what type of sin she was associated with.
She didn't literally break the entire box open to get the oil. More like she broke the seal to open the box in order to anoint.
I will reference the Dake bible again, "Eastern people reclined on couches at meals with the feet outward behind them. She came back of YashaYah (Jesus) and shed tears on His feet. This was a custom among the Jews, Greeks, and Romans. It was a mark of affection and reverence. It was practiced by supplicants in making an important request and by conquered people as a token of subjection and obedience. This was the first of three anointings of YashaYah (Jesus)." This piece of information will help one understand the next set of bible verses and why the woman, the alabaster box, and the ointment are all very important.
Luke 7:37-50 KJV
"And, behold, a woman in the city, which was a sinner, when she knew that YashaYah (Jesus) sat at meat in the Pharisee's house, brought an alabaster box of ointment, And stood at His feet behind Him weeping, and began to wash His feet with tears, and did wipe them with the hairs of her head, and kissed his feet, and anointed them with the ointment. Now when the Pharisee which had bidden Him saw it, he spake within himself, saying, This man, if He were a prophet, would have known who and what manner of woman this is that toucheth Him: for she is a sinner. And YashaYah (Jesus) answering said unto him, Simon, I have somewhat to say unto thee. And he saith, Master, say on. There was a certain creditor which had two debtors: the one owed five hundred pence, and the other fifty. And when they had nothing to pay, he frankly forgave them both. Tell me therefore, which of them will love him most? Simon answered and said, I suppose that he, to whom he forgave most. And He said unto him, Thou hast rightly judged. And He turned to the woman, and said unto Simon, Seest thou this woman? I entered into thine house, thou gavest Me no water for My feet: but she hath washed My feet with tears, and wiped them with the hairs of her head. Thou gavest Me no kiss: but this woman since the time I came in hath not ceased to kiss My feet. My head with oil thou didst not anoint: but this woman hath anointed My feet with ointment. Wherefore I say unto thee, Her sins, which are many, are forgiven; for she loved much: but to whom little is forgiven, the same loveth little. And He said unto her, Thy sins are forgiven. And they that sat at meat with Him began to say within themselves, Who is this that forgiveth sins also? And He said to the woman, Thy faith hath saved thee; go in peace."

It is important that we take time out of our busy lives to fast. The Word says WHEN you fast, not IF you fast. We have to put down the food, TV, and music and focus on the word of The Most High. He wants to do great things in your life. Some things can only be done through prayer and fasting.
Matthew 17:20-21 KJV
20 And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.
21 Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting.
There are different types of fasts: The Daniel Fast, fasting from sunrise to sunset, and countless others. No matter which one you choose to do, remember to not brag about fasting.
Matthew 6:16-18 KJV
16 Moreover when ye fast, be not, as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance: for they disfigure their faces, that they may appear unto men to fast. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.
17 But thou, when thou fastest, anoint thine head, and wash thy face;
18 That thou appear not unto men to fast, but unto thy Father which is in secret: and thy Father, which seeth in secret, shall reward thee openly.
