During the summer of 2013 I had the chance to visit my 2nd favorite city, Washington, D.C. After completing a trolley tour my family and I were looking for a place that everyone could eat. I was a pregnant vegan who was hot, tired, and hungry. Despite all that I was enjoying myself. My friend wanted me to meet him at a Vegan restaurant, but I couldn't find it or him and I needed to eat right away. We walked to the next block and I saw an advertisement for a green wrap in a window. They sold vegan food and had chicken for my non vegan family members. My family swears they didn't like it, but they ate everything they ordered. I'm sure if they didn't know it was vegan they would have loved it, lol. Anyways...I created my own green wrap filled with quinoa, avocado, corn, chickpeas, cucumbers, red onions, tomatoes, olive oil, and balsamic vinaigrette wrapped in kale. I loved it and if there were one in my hometown Wilmington, North Carolina; I'm sure I'd eat there quite a few times a week. The closest one to me is 4 hours away in Charlotte, N.C.

December 1st is World AIDS Day recognized by the United Nations. Over 35 million people are living with HIV around the world; 47% of those people are women. A lot of the times HIV is passed on via unprotected sex and the sharing of needles.
There is still no cure or vaccine for the disease. There is more treatment and medication now than there ever was. With more education and awareness, people aren't as afraid of people with the disease as they once were. Up until 2010, China banned all persons with HIV from travelling. In the United States up until 2009, HIV-positive people were banned from entering the country. On November 7, 1991; NBA player Magic Johnson announced that he had HIV. Director, Nelson George, documented the story in The Announcement.
The best ways to prevent AIDS and HIV is abstinence, having sex with the use of a latex condom, and not sharing needles with others.
