My book for February 2013 is called, "Assata." It is by Assata Shakur (Tupac Shakur's Aunt), with forewads by Angela Davis and Lennox S. Hinds. I found this book while searching for an Angela Davis biography on my kindle. I found out that Assata was raised in my hometown; Wilmington, North Carolina. I searched her name online and her life interested me, so I decided to download the book.
Assata Olugbala Shakur was born JoAnne Deborah Byron in Jamaica, Queens, New York. Assata means "warlike" or "she who struggles." She was a member of the Black Panther Party and the Black Liberation Army. She graduated from the City College of New York. She has been accused of several crimes including; murder, armed robbery, and kidnapping. In 1984 she was granted political asylum in Cuba; and she published her autobiography from there just 3 years later.

52 Mondays: The One Year Path to Outrageous Success & Lifelong Happiness, by Vic Johnson; is a great book to start off your New Year! If you can't start January 1, 2013; that's okay. Just start it when you can and if you try to do what the book says, I believe it will change your life. I'm currently reading this book and I try to read it every Monday. The book description really says it all:
"If You Knew What Can Happen In The Next 52 Mondays It Would Take Your Breath Away"
For my 52 weeks, I am taking piano lessons. I learned how to read music in elementary school. I played in the concert band for 3 years in middle school and the marching band in high school. I've played the clarinet, bass drum, and cymbols. I learned to play "Silent Night" on the piano a long time ago, but I've always wanted to learn how to play the piano well. I'm purchasing a keyboard soon to practice at home. I was introduced to a computer program called, Sibelius, recently that helps you to compose music. I'm looking forward to the end result of my 52 Mondays.
What will you do in 52 Mondays?!
