With Hurricane Irma getting closer to the Southeastern, United States region; and tropical storm Jose on her trail, I decided to make a post about the items you’ll need to prepare yourself. Where I live in Wilmington, North Carolina; hurricanes are common and rarely faze the locals. Honestly, I’ve driven in past hurricanes, gone to the store, taken trash out, etc. However, it’s better to be prepared than unprepared. These are also items recommended to have in your car anyways, in case of an emergency.
Right now, Hurricane Irma is a category 5 and has been described as a monster. In Miami, stores quickly ran out of hardware supplies and gas stations were lined up with cars. Here in Wilmington, NC; both Sam’s Club and Costco ran out of water bottles and jugs. I just put in an order for pick-up tomorrow to ensure I could get the things that I need. We are planning to leave town for this one and not take any chances. Whether you’re staying, going to a shelter, or leaving town; these items will be good to have.
Extra tip: Make sure to fully charge all cell phones and devices beforehand.
Everyone please be safe and stay tuned to your local weather reports. If there are any other item suggestions, please leave them in the comment section! God Bless!
